Whats up everyone?!

My name is Josh. Ive come here from over at EvoM (username: bakuro117) Ive been a fan of rally for a while now so while searching EvoM I came across a thread that was promoting this site so I figured Id check it out.

I currently drive a 2004 Lancer Ralliart FWD 2.4l. Car has been a blast the last few years Ive owned her. I guess I'll just copy/paste my parts list from EvoM for yall:

Quote:
2004 Lancer RALLI//ART

3A Racing Exhaust Acekogyo Tie Bar BFGoodrich G-Force KDW-2 Blox Antenna, Solid Front Mount, VG
Centric Calipers Cusco Front Brace Evo 8 Wing KYB GR-2 Megan H-Brace Motegi MR-125 Optima Yellow Top
Powerstop Brakes, Rotors RRM Camber Bolts, UDP STM Amber Side Markers Spec-D Halo Headlights
Taylor Battery Relocate Techna-Fit SS Brake Lines Tein S.Tech Whiteline Rear Sway Bar VMS Oil Cap
Custom Black Interior, Taillights, Rear Strut Bar, Solid Rear Mount, SRI, Valve Cover

Anywho. Ive been seriously thinking about getting a project car to set up for autocross, rallycross, or rally. I guess it will really depend on which I can do more of in my area, which from what I have seen so far isnt much without travelling a bit of distance.

Well its good to be here! Thanks for looking!

Welcome Josh! I like the rally look you've got going on with your Ralliart. I'm glad you found us! What side of Kentucky do you live on? I'll see if I can find some nearby Rallyx or autox events. I currently drive 5 hours each way to Rallyx but I'm hoping to get something started in my city for next year.

The Kentucky SCCA Region has an AutoX series with events in Louisville on 7/14, 8/11, 8/25, 9/15, and 10/13.

Depending on where in Kentucky you live there are RallyX events in Ohio, Indiana, and Tennessee which all border Kentucky.

Thanks for the welcomes! :)

I live about 45 minutes northeast of Lexington, KY.

I heard about the AutoX events in louisville but I havent really looked into them yet. I may have to go check one out in August.

And where are these RallyX events? I'd like to check them out as well if I can!

Ok so you are up close to Ohio and Indiana.

The Ohio Valley Region has most of their events at National Trail Raceway in Hebron, OH which is just over 3 hours from you. They have 9 events this year including these still remaining for this season:
  • Points Event 3 - sigmaTec Automotive Enduro Challenge Saturday, June 29th 2013 National Trail Raceway
  • Points Event 4 - Rallycross School (Morning) Saturday, July 27th 2013 National Trail Raceway
  • Points Event 5 - WOR joint event Saturday, August 10th 2013 Roos' Farm
  • Points Event 6 Saturday, August 24th 2013 National Trail Raceway
  • Points Event 7 - Duel in the Dirt Saturday, September 7th 2013 National Trail Raceway
  • Points Event 8 Saturday, October 26th 2013 National Trail Raceway
  • Points Event 9 - WOR joint event Saturday, November 30th 2013 Roos' Farm

The Indianapolis Region generally holds their events in Camby, IN which is just under 3 hours from you. They have two possible events remaining this season depending on if they find a location:
  • September 21 Rally Cross Event 5 Need site or else cancelled
  • October 19 Rally Cross Event 6 Need site or else cancelled

And the Indiana Badlands Region has 3 events remaining this season held in Attica, Indiana, which is 4 hours away from you.
  • Badlands Rallycross Points Event #2, June 29th 2013
  • Badlands Rallycross Points Event #3, August 3rd 2013
  • Badlands Rallycross Points Event #4, September 14th 2013

So there you go, 3 different rallyX series within a 4 hour drive. The one I compete in, which is also the nearest one to me, is a 5 hour drive! I hope this helps and you will be able to go try some out! If you do go be sure to take some DirtyEvo referral cars with you and wear a "It's better when it's dirty" DirtyEvo shirt! DirtyEvo Store. Also take pics for the DirtyEvo of the Quarter photo contest!

Wow! Awesome! Thanks for all that info. I'll have to check some of these events out! :D

It'd probably be good for me to go volunteer, watch, and mingle with the people who actually do it then I'll know what to do for my project car when I get the cash to start one!

Thanks again!

Thanks! :D

Ive been meaning to make some GoPro videos of the RA on some mountain roads down south where Im from but I havent gotten down there in a while. Id love to RallyX the RA but its my only car at the moment so if I broke something Id be screwed lol.

Been looking around for a beater I can turn into a racer. Ive got a spare 4g69 engine at home so If I could find an old lancer or mirage for cheap with a blown motor or something Id totally jump on it. :D

Welcome!
If you're serious about looking for a car, I may have one available in the next year or less. We're about to retire our current Recce car (2002 Lancer), and it won't be expensive.
Also, if you want to Rally, just plan on traveling. Part of it. We travel thousands of miles every year going to events and back. Some times thousands just for a single event. If you don't want to travel, it's auto-x and rally-x for you.
-Great idea wanting to volunteer to get involved. This is the very best (and cheapest) way to get started.
-Consider renting a car for your first event or two. We will start renting our Lancer for the 2014 season, but there are many opportunities with both more and less expensive rentals.
-To bad there's not more Rally's in your area, it's pretty down there.
