I tagged my first Evo today! A graphite grey MR. Luckily I had some cards in my wife's Subbie so I pulled over and slipped it under one of his wiper blades.

Yesterday I contacted 12 SCCA regions that have RallyX programs and asked if I sent them some referral cards if they would put them out on their registration tables at upcoming events. 7 of them responded back right away saying that they would. I talked to a few of them about the vehicles they have at their events and most said they had little to no Mitsubishi's of any models at their RallyX events. Evos in particular are getting a bad reputation for just being stance whores.

This leads me to my next thought as far as recruitment and growing both DirtyEvo and Evo/DSM partisipation in local rallyx's. It seems there clearly aren't enough Evo/DSM's at Rallies/Rallyx's to grow this site much. So we need to focus recruitment efforts to the rest of the EVO/DSM population, those that have never given any thought to driving in the dirt. To do that we need to somehow take advantage of the huge national forums like Evolutionm.net and DSMtuners.com that have thousands of EVO and DSM owners and raise the intrest in this culture and get the word out about this growing sport and growing site.

Any ideas on how to do that?

I have an idea, but how feasible it is I don't know. What about putting on a Rally X at an event like the Shootout? That way you could show people there's more to these cars than just ripping a straight line.

I like the idea! Dave Bushur is always looking to expand the Shootout. They just added the AutoX portion a few years ago. I wonder if there is a workable site nearby....

I know his biggest concern would be if there would be enough competitors to make it worth it though.

I actually thought about that coming home from there this year, but since I'm a no name I just kind of let it go. There's a LOT of farm country out there. There has to be somewhere to run.

Since I'm only an hour away from there, I'll help out anyway I can. I know nothing about organizing an event, BUT I am more then happy to learn.

Here's a link for a map of the surrounding area.

How about a poll on any and all DSM/Evo related websites seeing what kind of racer turn out you could get? Just be sure to specify that nothing is set in stone.

Heath
