Default New Tow Hook & Codriver Footrest for the rally car...

Being inspired by Binary Engineering's tow hook on his road race car, I decided to make one for the rally car...

I took the factory bumper beam bracket, and welded a 3/8" piece of steel to it..

I wanted it to be extra rigid, so I also welded 3/8" steel gussets to it.

Bolts into factory location, and fits VERY nice.

While I was at it, I decided to take another stab at making a footrest.. The previous one i made, I didn't like the way it came out.. The angle was too steep, and I couldn't get it far enough up the firewall, because i made it like this _A_ instead of like __/ . So I took a piece of steel I had laying around. I think its about .090".. Put it in the brake, and bent it to where it felt right sitting in a low office chair... Then, I took some more of the steel, and cut gussets out, and tacked them in place..

After a little paint, it looks like this..

Now I just need to do final placement, then take it back out, and bring it down to our latest sponsor, Great Scot Car Stereo where they are going to do a rough truck bedliner finish on it for some good grip..

Nice tow hook! And amazing door cards i also would like to know where you got them!

P.S I noticed that your fire extinguisher bracket setup and just wanted to make a comment on that. My 1st co driver seat the fire extinguisher bracket was facing the same way and as I got in and out of the car my heel always hit the bracket and unlatched the fire extinguisher. Not sure if this is/can be a prob with yours.

Door cards were ordered from Europe.. I believe they were around $400 for the pair...

Yes the extinguisher is a problem... Usually when not in a race enviornment i put tape over the latches to prevent them from being unlatched... but flipping it around so the latches are facing backwards sounds like a much smarter idea..

Time to relocate that "tow" sticker, haha. You are one of the few Evo owners that is comfortable cutting into the body panels.
